How To Make Mushrooms In The Air Fryer

Expect to spend roughly 10 minutes preparing the ingredients and five minutes air frying. They are great to make while your Air Fryer Ribeye is resting.

Cleaning – Mushrooms are dirty little devils so don’t skip this step. Read below for an easy way to clean them, without water logging them.

Slicing – Cut the mushrooms into a uniform size.

Mixing – Toss the mushrooms with the marinade before transferring to the air fryer basket.

Cooking – Cook for just 4-5 minutes when your air fryer is pre-heated.

Tip – if you like making vegetables in the air fryer try this Air Fryer Eggplant recipe.

What Type of Mushrooms Should I Use?

You can prepare this Air Fryer Mushrooms recipe with a variety of different mushroom including, white button mushrooms, small brown mushrooms, portobello mushrooms (cut to smaller size), oyster mushrooms or shiitake mushrooms.

How To Clean Mushrooms

Do not soak or rinse your mushrooms to clean! Use a damp paper towel to clean and remove dirt from the mushrooms. Mushrooms act like a sponge and will become water logged – this water will release when cooked watering down the sauce.

Air Fryer Recipe Tips

Can I use Canned Mushrooms? Nope. Those little guys are filled with a ton of liquid. The air fryer will never be able to “fry” them. You’ll be left with bland mush.

Air Fryer Mushrooms and Onions – Slice up some onions and add to the mixture before cooking.

Serve these mushrooms up with a Ribeye in Air Fryer and garlic mashed potatoes for a killer meal!

Drink Pairings

Wine – Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Noir

Notes

The recipe, as written above, includes pre-heating the air fryer. If you prefer not to pre-heat the air fryer, you’ll need to increase the cook time to 8-10 minutes.
Note 2 – Mushroom options: white button mushrooms, small brown mushrooms, portabella mushrooms (cut to smaller size), oyster mushrooms or shitake mushrooms.
Note 3 – Feel free to replace the Worcestershire Sauce with Soy Sauce, if desired.
Note 4 – It can be hard to distribute fresh garlic into each bite. We find using a mix of fresh garlic and powdered garlic distributes the garlic flavor better.
