Introducing The Pimm’s Cup, a refreshing, fruit-infused cocktail known as the “official drink of Wimbledon”. Pimm’s cocktails combine Pimm’s No. 1, a gin-based liquor with a spicy-fruity flavor, with English-style lemonade and various fruits, cucumber, and mint for garnish.

Pimm’s Cup

In London, the Pimm’s Cup is sold at every pub in large pitchers filled with strawberries, mint, orange, lemon and more. I had numerous Americans ask me what I was having once they saw the huge pitcher placed in front of me. They even had it on tap, ready to serve!

It’s my personal goal to introduce the Pimm’s Cup Cocktail to my fellow Americans. In addition to sexy accents, Harrods, Harry Potter and couture fashion, the Brits also have the Pimm’s Cup. That, my friends, is my “Top 5 Things I Love About London” list.

Pimms No 1

Pimms Cup is just starting to pick up on “this side of the pond”. Luckily Pimms No. 1 Liqueur is found at most liquor stores so you can make your own. Here’s a brief background of the gin-based liqueur.

It also has a low alcohol content so you can drink till your heart desires without making a fool of yourself after over indulging. This is the perfect drink for the “can’t have just one” crowd.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients to make this Pimm’s drink recipe:

  • Pimm’s No. 1 Liqueur
  • Lemon Lime Soda
  • Optional Garnishes – Mint, English Cucumbers, Strawberry, Orange

English-style Lemonade

Many Pimm’s Cup recipes call for “lemonade.” Lemonade in the US is totally different than what is considered Lemonade in the UK. Their version is essentially carbonated lemonade, not flat like ours. The equivalent is a carbonated lemon lime soda, such as Sprite or 7-Up.

Pimm’s cocktails are everything you look for in a summer drink – bright, refreshing and easy to make. There’s a reason they’re so popular in hot New Orleans and Wimbledon.
