Prep The Roast
To prepare the brisket for cooking, first rinse it under cold water. This will help remove any excess salt from the surface of the meat.
We highly recommend using homemade Corned Beef Spices so you have enough to season the roast, as well as, the cooking water. Plus you can adjust the flavors to your taste.

Expert Tips
The following tips apply to any cooking style you utilize, not just Saint Patricks Day Recipes.
- Do not remove the fat cap. It will keep the roast moist and infuse it with flavor while cooking. Remove when serving, if desired.
- Store bought corned beef is loaded with sodium. To reduce, soak the roast in cold water for up to 4 hours, changing out the water every hour.
- Try and use homemade spices as the packet of spices that comes with the roast isn’t a huge amount. We coat the roast AND add some to the cooking water to maximize flavor.
- Swap out the cooking water or broth with beer to add even more flavor. Guinness is obviously a great choice.
- Like a crispy exterior? Broil for 5-10 minutes after cooking.
- Let the roast rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing so the meat has time to redistribute the juices.
- Serve with a dish of Pickled Mustard Seeds.

Now grab an Irish Mule, Irish Breakfast Shot, or Jameson Whiskey drink and get to cooking a fatty beef brisket!!
